Supporting Korean youth
as they grow into global leaders shaping the future

As Korea moved past its peak period of economic growth and entered a low-growth era, the number of quality jobs began to decline sharply. By the late 2000s, youth unemployment had risen to twice the national average. New terms like the ‘880,000-won generation’ and the ‘Sampo generation’ captured the immense difficulty young people faced in entering workforce and the deep uncertainty they felt about the future.

Daewoo Foundation focused on global expansion as a solution to youth unemployment, focusing on ASEAN countries as strategic partners. The Foundation operates the GYBM (Global Young Business Manager) program, training Korean youth to become local managers and entrepreneurs across the ASEAN region. The program supports not only short-term employment but also long-term pathways toward entrepreneurship and growth through global networks.

Over the past decade, GYBM graduates have built strong expertise in their respective fields and are now moving beyond individual achievement into a vibrant youth business network across ASEAN. They are deeply rooted in local companies and communities, connecting with one another, collaborating actively, and serving as bridges between Korea and ASEAN.

What We Do

Nurturing young entrepreneurs who grow with emerging economies, with ASEAN as the primary arena for success

GYBM

GYBM is a local professional training program for young entrepreneurs in four ASEAN countries: Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Thailand. The curriculum includes language, culture, and practical business training through domestic and overseas programs, and graduates enter local companies as mid-level managers.
